Hello fellow bloggers and friends:
My name is Adam and I’ve been a music fan for a long time. I’ve been keeping a personal top-40 music chart since the fall of 1999 after being inspired by the radio program American Top 40. My very first #1 was “Genie In A Bottle” by Christina Aguilera.
Initially just going to be a Summer project, but now an ongoing one, I decided it might be cool to take a trip to the past to see what my lists would have looked like had I been listening to the radio in the 80′s and the 90′s.
At this point, all 52 charts in 1980 are posted on this blog. Bare with me as I slowly update the charts from 1981 due to a lot of school work. I’m also holding off posting year-end charts for the same reason.
Keep checking this blog to see my “latest” charts and a bit of fun commentary!
Thanks for visiting and come back soon! — Adam
Special thanks to Billboard Magazine, Cashbox Singles Chart and Radio & Records for providing archival information!
P.S. Even if you don’t make your own personal chart, feel free to leave a comment! I’m anxious to see what you think of the blog.
Hey Adam,
I think it’s such a cool idea to go back in time and find the songs you would have been listening to back in the 80s and 90s. It’s amazing that so many of the artists back then (i.e.Queen, Pat Bentar) still have their songs played onthe radio or are listed on people’s ipods. I really like the song “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” It’s one of my favorites.
Anyway I think your website has great potential and will attract a wide range of people since music is a topic of conversation, debate, and brings people together. I look forward to seeing your lists from the 90s as well. Keep the music coming!!
